ASA: built for sun, heat, and weather

ASA is made for the outdoors. It stands up to sunlight, heat, and weather with little fading, and it doesn't get brittle. That makes it the pick for parts that live outside, or that ride around in a car through an Idaho summer.

Available on request as a Custom print.

Pros & cons

What ASA does well, and where it falls short

Pros

  • UV resistant, so it resists fading and stays tough in the sun
  • Handles heat close to 200°F (95°C), enough for most car interiors
  • Tough and impact resistant, and holds up well in cold weather
  • Rigid, so parts hold their shape season after season

Cons

  • Fewer color options than PLA
  • Costs more than PLA
  • Fine detail is a little softer than PLA
  • Large, flat parts are harder to print without warping, so some designs need small changes
